Join us for the final in this series designed to explore and develop the different facets or branches of Yoga!
Each branch of Yoga, works in combination with the other branches to bring about heightened spiritual growth. The most commonly known and practiced branch in the United States is Hatha Yoga, which includes mostly the physical postures and breath work. Hatha Yoga is wonderfully beneficial, but when practiced alone we miss out on the integrity and wholeness that all six branches offer.
When practiced with loving regularity, all six branches: Hatha Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Japa Yoga and Raja Yoga help to clear our perceptions of Reality. They promote a sense of inner balance, harmony, deeper peace and happiness.
We will cover each of the six branches of Yoga and discuss some practical ways to incorporate them into our daily lives. Enabling us live Yoga rather than just do yoga.
Hatha Yoga (Body Centered Yoga) – Yoga postures, breathing control , hand gestures, energetic locks, and cleansing techniques
Raja Yoga (Royal Yoga) – a holistic approach founded on moral and ethical precepts
Jnana Yoga (Yoga of Wisdom) – spiritual study and self-analysis
Bhakti Yoga (Yoga of Devotion) – love and devotion to any form of God
Japa Yoga (Yoga of Mantra Repetition) – repetition of a mantra to clear, calm, and steady the mind
Karma Yoga (Yoga of Selfless Service) – the path of selfless service
Note: This series is intended and suitable for yoga practitioners who have some familiarity with the basic practices of Hatha Yoga such as posture, breath control and meditation. Please consider bringing a pen and paper to take notes.
