Discover Your Power Animal – An Introduction to Shamanic Journeying

with Christine Vander Ploeg
Saturday, October 21
1:00pm – 3:30pm

Shamans have long believed their powers were the powers of the animals, of the plants, of the sun, of the basic energies of the universe. These powers help to provide strength in daily life and to live joyfully in community with the natural world. In the shamanic cultures, it is believed that when we are born, the spirit of at least one animal volunteers itself to protect and guide us throughout our life – this is our power animal.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the principals of shamanism and discover your power animal by being guided through a shamanic state of consciousness through rhythmic drumming. There will be opportunities to explore and express your journey through movement, discussion, and mindful journaling.

Please bring a rattle or drum, an eye cover and a journal.

Cost: $35 Pre-Registration by October 14/$45 Thereafter

Highland Sutra Circle

with Stephen Tortorello
Wednesday, October 4
7:30pm – 9:00pm

The intention of the Sutra Circle is to explore the myriad principles of yoga philosophy through various works of fiction and non-fiction and to learn how to weave these powerful principles into our contemporary lifestyles. No experience of yoga or yoga philosophy is necessary to participate. Our next circle will review The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer.

From the Publisher: We always have a choice, Pema Chödrön teaches: We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us and make us increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let them soften us and make us kinder. Here Pema provides the tools to deal with the problems and difficulties that life throws our way. This wisdom is always available to us, she teaches, but we usually block it with habitual patterns rooted in fear. Beyond that fear lies a state of openheartedness and tenderness. This book teaches us how to awaken our basic goodness and connect with others, to accept ourselves and others complete with faults and imperfections, and to stay in the present moment by seeing through the strategies of ego that cause us to resist life as it is.

Workshop Cost: $20
Book: $10.95
