Alignment refers to the optimal placement of the physical body and the corresponding muscular engagements that enable practitioners to benefit fully and safely from a practice of physical postures (asana). Props such as straps and blocks may be used to accentuate a particular aspect of alignment and deepen your understanding of the asana. Breathing and meditation techniques may also be offered to align body and mind as each move toward a balance of strength and flexibility.
An Intermediate/Advanced class is for practitioners that have a well-established yoga practice and are seeking to move beyond a mixed levels class to explore more challenging asana, pranayama and meditation techniques. More complicated postures, as well as arm balances and inversions are common offerings in this class.
