Highland Yoga
is proud to partner with YogaWorks to offer this original,
non-dogmatic, and rich learning experience. Whether you
are currently teaching, aspiring to teach or you're a serious student
wishing to take your practice to another level, this program will deepen your
understanding of yoga while opening your hidden potential and
inner wisdom.
YogaWorks’ premier Teacher Training program is credited by many
as laying the foundation for yoga in the U.S. Many of the most
respected yoga teachers in the U.S. today, including Shiva Rea,
Seane Corn, Saul David Raye, Max Strom and Natasha Rizopoulos have all
trained with YogaWorks.
YogaWorks offers one of the most comprehensive Teacher Training
programs in the world for aspiring teachers and serious students
of yoga. YogaWorks’ cohesive, multi-specialist approach to
teacher training blends the best of yoga tradition from the East
and the West. At YogaWorks, the mission is to provide aspiring
teachers with the foundation to teach skillfully with
compassion, integrity and safety, while honoring his or her
unique voice.
The dynamic and conscious practice of asana is the cornerstone
of the YogaWorks method. To deepen their education, students in
the YogaWorks training will also study anatomy and physiology,
explore Yoga’s philosophical underpinnings, practice meditation
and pranayama as well as investigate the subtle body and
Ayurveda.
Since 1990, YogaWorks has trained hundreds of new teachers and
continues to offer on-going curriculum to its graduates.
YogaWorks Teacher Training is registered with Yoga Alliance at
the 200, and 500 hour levels.

The course is comprised of
three main sections:
1. Theory and Practice of Yoga
This foundational training will emphasize deepening a student’s
personal practice, as this is the source for their creative
teaching. It will also include a comprehensive study of the
techniques and mechanics of the fundamental yoga postures, while
providing the tools necessary to teach yoga to others. To
facilitate a more scientific understanding of the body, the
training includes the study of functional anatomy. In addition,
to give developing teachers a balanced understanding of yoga,
the YogaWorks training moves beyond the physical with the study
of meditation, pranayama, Ayurveda and the chakra system.
Topics include:
* Intensive asana study
* Fundamental anatomy of physiology
* The principles of pranayama
* Understanding of restorative and pre-natal yoga
* Overview of the subtle body & chakra system
2. Yoga Philosophy
Over 2,000 years ago the sage Patanjali described the process of
Yogic movement towards a higher consciousness and peace in his
treatise “the Yoga Sutras.” His teachings are a living,
practical model that, once understood, can be applied to all
aspects of life today. They serve to deepen the awareness of
our relationship to ourselves, to others, and to our
environment. Participants of this course will be introduced to
the vast wealth of inspiration available in “the Yoga Sutras of
Patanjali.”
3. The Theory and Practice of Teaching
The art of teaching is a form of yoga in itself requiring
sensitivity, compassion and practice. A teacher must encourage
and inspire, being sensitive to both the needs of individuals as
well as those of the group. The practical and subtle aspects
involved in teaching, to be addressed in this course, include:
* How to be an effective teacher
* Use of voice, body language and touch
* The art and science of sequencing
* Learning how to see and understand bodies
* The purpose and use of props in personal practice, and class
setting
* Hands on adjustments
* Practice teaching

About YogaWorks
YogaWorks was founded in 1988 by the now world-renowned Ashtanga
yoga teachers Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller, at the urging of
Tantric yoga master Alan Finger. They were the first yogis to
create a school that brought the many different styles of yoga
together in one place.
Today YogaWorks has become a thriving yoga resource and
community of teachers and students as well as one of the most
comprehensive and most respected teacher training programs in
the world. Over the years, YogaWorks has earned a reputation
for making quality yoga accessible to all.

About Cleandra Martin-Waldron
Cleandra is a certified EYRT (Experienced Registered Yoga
Teacher) through Yoga Alliance and has been a part of the Yoga
Works Teacher Training Program since 2005. She first began her
yoga journey when she was just two, by imitating her mother's
morning asana practice. Most mornings ended in a fit of giggles,
and yoga has remained a source of inspiration & joy ever since.
Cleandra’s asana classes help students to ground themselves
though their precise alignment and lengthen through an even and
elongated breath. Her Restorative classes are a trip to another
planet as she holds poses for extended lengths of time (6-12
minutes per pose), and encourages students to surrender again
and again to the moment.
